Combi-Ride, led by Managing Director Jonathan Leam, has been supplying premium equestrian riding surfaces across the UK and beyond for over 20 years. From leisure riders to international competitors, the company has built a reputation for delivering safe, consistent, and high-performing arenas, gallops, lunge rings and turn out areas – and at the heart of those surfaces is Mansfield Sand.
“We’re a small company based in the East Midlands, and we specialise in stabilising sand for the equestrian market,” Jonathan explained. “We’ve got three main products: our Dual Stabiliser, which combines pulverised nylon with rubber crumb; an Advanced Jumping Surface designed for high impact and using a longer fibre; and a pre-mixed version of that, which we mix directly with Mansfield Sand as an all-in-one package.”
Over the past two decades, Combi-Ride has installed and refurbished riding surfaces not only across the UK – from Scotland to Wales, and even as far afield as France, Holland, Ireland, and the Isle of Man – but it is Mansfield Sand’s high-quality silica sand that provides the foundation of every surface.
“Mansfield Sand is the base ingredient of what we do,” Jonathan continued. “Their silica sand has the right grain shape and grain size, and that forms the starting point for all our surfaces. From there, we stabilise the sand with nylon and rubber to create the performance and consistency that riders/horses require.”
Jonathan is quick to highlight why Mansfield Sand has remained his go-to choice for over two decade – reliability, consistency, and service.
“If you use sand alone, it can dry too quickly and lose stability. With Mansfield Sand, we know exactly what we’re working with – and their team always delivers on time, which is essential for us and our clients. The customer service has always been excellent. They really understand the industry, and it’s a fantastic company to work with. A lot of their staff have been there for many years, and that stability mirrors what we want in our own products.”
“Our relationship with Mansfield Sand developed naturally. A lot of the jobs we were doing 20 years ago were already using their sand, and we quickly saw the benefits of working directly with them. Since then, our products have developed with Mansfield Sand in mind – their sand is fundamental to what we deliver.”
With two decades of shared success behind them, Jonathan has no hesitation about the future of the partnership. “There are no plans to change – Mansfield Sand will always be part of what we do,” he said.
From private clients to professional equestrian centres, Combi-Ride continues to build its reputation for performance surfaces – and Mansfield Sand remains the trusted foundation beneath that.
